Images explained

When you click on “select image” in a product, category and producer it loads the image library.

Use an existing image

Use search to find an image that already exists in the library. There are some stock images in the library that you are free to use in your store should you want to. A single image can be used in many places so if you have already added an image that you want to use in another place there is no need to add it again.

Adding images

Image quality, proportions and consistency are important so you should take your photographs with a reasonable quality digital camera and crop them to the correct proportions before uploading.

Image size is less important as images are resized on the fly as needed. Images will never be displayed bigger than the original size so you should ensure your image is at least as large as the biggest size it will be displayed in your store.

The maximum width or height of an image is 2048 pixels. If your image is bigger than this it will be automatically resized when you upload it. The maximum file size you can upload is 10mb, although we would not recommend it. A file this size would take far too long to upload so it would be much quicker to reduce the size first.

Once you have uploaded your image, or found one with search, select it and then save your product, category or producer to complete the association.

Images are resized on use

The width and height of the image are specified on the page and when that page is requested by a shopper the image delivered has first been resized at the server to that specification.

An image is never stretched so if it is of a different proportion to the stored image transparent space is added to the height or width. If the image size requested is bigger than the stored image transparent space is added all around.

Being able to specify different sizes of the same image in different places in your store front gives total flexibility in design. It also means that you don't need to create a separate image for every different size you need, like thumbnails.

Managing your image library

From "image library" in the menu you can edit and delete images that you previously uploaded against a product, category or producer.
