Orders

Orders are managed and processed in the control panel.

Organising order processing

An order typically has a delivery or collection date associated with it. The date to start preparing an order is calculated using this date, the lead times in the chosen delivery slot and the lead times of the products in the order. When the start date is reached the order is listed in "needing attention" section and the order status is automatically changed to "picking in progress". Until then the shopper is allowed to make changes to their order, or even cancel it.

Orders that need working on today are listed in "needing attention". Order statuses are used to record the stage an individual order has reached and therefore what needs doing next.

Simple type delivery schemes do not have delivery dates associated with them and are locked for immediate processing when they are placed.

Taking payment

The shopper's card details are taken and verified when the order is placed. The payment is taken through the control panel just before the order is delivered and after the final order value is known. When the order is placed the shopper is given an estimated order value.
